Setting up FAQs
Why, indeed.
We connect great people in business and we make our freemium services available to those who wish to join us for the first time.
In straightforward terms:
Those in business who wish to pay us are generally looking for an ongoing business relationship, and, to make the most of the services that we can make available, they choose to pay us through our service called '20-80 Connect'.
Some like to have something for nothing, and choose not to pay us, ever. If they are not overly demanding, that's fine, but they are offered the opportunity to start using our '20-80 Connect' paid-for services.
(Our '20-80 Connect Gold Service' is made available from as little as £200 a month, for those who wish us to invest some extra energy into looking to help them to better achieve their goals.)
One of the greatest challenges of our time is how to motive individuals to want to meet for real and, in short, we find it much easier to get high-quality individuals to meet other high-quality individuals at an event.
We engage with businesses in the hospitality industry, such as pubs and restaurants, who provide us with a warm welcome on arrival. (We even pay to go to our own events.)
We encourage all those who attend our events to pay their own way, so let your guest be free to pay their own way, if you consider that to be the right option.
(If you wish to supply hospitality to your guest, that's your affair, especially if compliance requires documenting all entertainment expenses, adhering to company gift policies, and ensuring no quid pro quo or bribery occurs.)
IMPORTANT! We are a business consultancy! Our events are intended to be educational and fun. So, for example, investment professionals who come to our events are very welcome to talk about markets and investment strategies, but not about funds or products.)
Vilfredo Pareto, born on the 15th of July 1848, or Joseph M. Juran, who lived to be 103, deserve credit for inspiring the name '2080'
You can read more about Vilfredo here,(https://www.econlib.org/vilfredo-pareto-100-years-after-his-death/) and Joseph here.(https://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/03/business/03juran.html)
When creating the '20-80 Connect' business consultancy service, it was decided that investing 20% of the effort into achieving 80% of the results would be a sound business policy, so that's what we do.
We are so pleased that you have asked, because, at the time, it seemed like a rather fun idea.
Our aim was to have our first event in the City of London, in Threadneedle Street, and we also wanted to choose something that would have a 1950s link to our Founder's year of birth.
The first bit was easy, as we arranged to have our first event at The Mercer Restaurant (https://www.themercer.co.uk/)in Threadneedle Street, which was one of our favourite City restaurants. (We went on to hold many events there over the years, but, sadly, very recently, the venue was forced to close.)
With the C, from City, and the T, from Threadneedle, in the bag, we came up with the idea of having a G because of the Peter Sellers film 'I'm All Right Jack'(https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052911/); if you watch the film, you will discover the reason why.
(Please do come to one of our events, if you'd like to learn more.🍾)
We pay our own way to go to our own events, and we encourage all others who come along to do the same, especially when dining.
We like to support the hospitality industry by introducing business friends to the venues that we regularly use. (At our events, we like to encourage those with us to make their selection from the set menus, to keep the cost down.)
Before ordering, try to avoid choosing expensive selections from the menu, and also take a note of any service charge.
Feel free to jump straight to a main course if that suits your appetite and budget better, and try to select options within the 'Suggested Budget' range.
We can make discreet enquiries, before you order, if you want to choose something within your budget range or want to go à la carte while celebrating. (If you are celebrating, maybe offer to pay for an extra glass of something for some of the guests on your table, if you consider that to be appropriate, on the day.)
Cheers!
